This program culled from 1960s-era television appearances features German virtuoso pianist Wilhelm Kempff performing well-known Beethoven selections such as Piano Sonata no. 14 in C-sharp minor and Piano Sonata no. 27 in E minor. Kempff's uniquely restrained but potent style also shines through in pieces by Robert Schumann, including Davidsbündlertänze, op. 6, Papillons, op. 2, and Arabeske in C major.

Wind and Cloud: The Storm Riders

Legend has it that the seven most powerful weapons will be bestowed on the greatest fighter in the land; making them supreme ruler over all. As legions of worthy warriors make their play for the prize, fate draws Wind and Cloud back into the arena to determine the outcome of an entire nation.

Winter

Winter is a short, just three-minute etude, which opens the viewer to two symbolic orders. In one you can find a picture of the contact between old age and youth. An old man lives in a house in a far away place. Two boys play in the snow. The villa attracts them with its magnetizing mystery. The boys throw snowballs. One of them accidentally hits the window and then terrified little ones see an old man watching them. The child's fear of strangers and old people makes them run away. Only when the path among the trees is already empty, the old gentleman smiles kindly. Piotr Sobociński refers in his film to our children's fears, instilled by fairy tales of fear intertwined with fascination.

Whispering Pines 3

In her celebrated video art serial, Whispering Pines, video and performance artist Shana Moulton tells the ever-evolving story of Cynthia, an anxiety-ridden hypochondriac whose constant search for health and happiness leads her towards fad cures and new age kitsch, creating situations in turn comic, contemplative, and surreal. The mundane objects in Cynthia’s world act as portals into her own overactive subconscious, wherein hallucinatory sequences explore the nature of material and spiritual concerns in contemporary culture
