Sketch Film #5

Sketch Film #5 (Tomonari Nishikawa, 2007, 3 min., super 8, silent, 18/24fps, b&w, USA) This is the last film in the series. I shot at the site of Marin Headlands County in California when I was an artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Art. The footage shows the nature in the area, as well as the historic buildings originally built for the US Army, including batteries and the Nike Missile Site. It was all edited in camera and hand-processed afterwards.

The Even More Fun Trip

Ryan Power is back and he means business. This second trip to Fiesta Texas is done ride-by-ride “just like last time.” Thrill to the psychedelic sights and sounds of a Texas theme park as you are slowly worn down by the implacable will of this young man. Ryan previously appeared in our short Snack and Drink and the ‘unreleased’ Ryan’s Capitol Tour. He also shows up briefly in Waking Life (as an alien leaving Earth).

The Living and the Dead

In 1943, group of Croatian soldiers overtake a strategically important point in western Bosnia with a goal to destroy a group of communist partisans. On the way they met some supernatural phenomena, and the action itself went very badly because the partisans ambushed them. The main character Martin inherits silver cigarette case from a dying soldier. This act connects to the story in 1993 when we meet Martins grandson Tomo. He is one of six soldiers of the Croatian army who have come to the same place in Bosnia to meet the same phenomena and similar fate.

Egg's latest book is based on the group's lives in the nineties when they shared a house. A TV production company, fronted by documentary film-maker Clare, is at the launch of Egg's book and suggests she films a reunion of the group. The reunion takes place in Miles' Mansion over a long weekend and the five old friends discover each other again.
