A Family Is a Family Is a Family: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration

What is a family? Rosie O'Donnell looks at the many answers to this question in this documentary that features original songs and thoughtful kids musing on love and family. The show provides a less than moving portrait of the remarkable diversity of so called families today, including same-sex parents, mixed-heritage families, and stories of adoption. Animated songs and musical performances by kids and families spice up the festivities along with performances and recordings by artists including Ziggy Marley, Bonnie Raitt, Doris Day, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Frank Sinatra, Rosie O'Donnell and They Might Be Giants.

Faces of Hillary

Hillary returns home to confront her boyfriend, Neil, with shocking news. She had an abortion. How will he react? But more compellingly, how will she? In Faces of Hillary, the screen is split into 4 equal parts. Each of the 4 sections reveals how she handles the situation. Faces of Hillary examines the power behind facial expressions and body gestures. It's a study on emotions, behaviours and contradictions. The attributes that make us human.

In this fake documentary that skewers the world of no-budget camcorder cinema, amateur filmmaker Ed Benjamin and his kid sister Meredith put their savings into producing a direct-to-video sexy vampire flick. They foolishly hire ex-soap star Veronica Weaver as the lead, whose eccentricities and diva behavior threaten to wreck the entire production.

Falling

A study in motion, perception, imagination and emotion, this film is ultimately a tribute to classic German cinema. It was shot with a macro lens in slow motion (64 fps) and is projected alternating between 18 and 5 frames per second throughout the piece.

Fanzines from Mars

Serbia in the 1990s had an underground scene with different characters mingling, roaming around, walking and talking. They were comic book authors, serious hard core punk fans, relatively young writers, freedom fighters, as well as intellectuals, loud NGO or Christian activists, hobos and underground posers, and probably a couple of fakers and ego-maniacs, to be honest. Everyone wrote something, cut 'n' pasted 'n' copied, reviewed concerts of their own friends, draw comics, made collages and then xeroxed all that and forwarded by mail to as many people possible. In short, it was social networking. But in those days, before Internet, the name was: fanzine-making.
