Hatalyan (The Hangman)

The life of Shalom, The Nazi major officer Adolf Eichmann's hangman, turned ritual slaughterer, encapsulates the story of Israel from the perspective of the 'other'- the marginalized Sephardi prison warden who is forced to do the dirty work of hanging the arch enemy and thus to carry a national burden that dramatically shaped his life. His job in the abattoir, together with his memories of his past, create a fascinating and complex portrait. His voice, yet unheard, from the edge of Israel's historical events, reveals new insights through his unique perspective. Shalom's clear, alternative voice from the margins of society carries a deeply humanistic universal message.

Hauling

Often regarded as a marginal society, the recycling underworld of São Paulo - Brazil's largest metropolis - is the backdrop to the touching story of Claudines and his family. 'Hauling' reveals the day-to-day life of this man, a father to over 27 children, and of many others who make their living out of collecting and recycling material that others have thrown out. In order to do this, Claudinei routinely visits the downtown neighborhood of Santa Efigênia in his lime-green VW bus. This film shows us the intimate workings of that universe in an effort to stimulate recycling and to expose these individuals as followers of a noble and respectable way of life.

He, She, I Was

He, She, I Was captures strangers on the street as I tell their, and my own, supposed life stories. By switching between presumed fact and fiction, the film calls its own validity into question. Can movies ever be trusted to tell the truth?

Heaven's Hospital

Purgatory is the condition or process of purification in which the souls of those who die in a state of grace are made ready for Heaven. “All who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.” Nothing defiled can enter heaven (Rev. 21:27), and therefore any soul less-than-perfect must first be cleansed before he can be admitted to the vision of God. In this FOCUS production, Fr. Mark Beard helps to explain the Doctrine of Purgatory that he refers to as Heaven’s Hospital.

Kaitlin Olson (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) stars opposite Jon Dore in this hilarious heist comedy written and directed by Jason and Randy Sklar (Cheap Seats). A disgruntled and bored bank teller named Ray (Jon Dore) finally gets his wish for some excitement when the branch is held up by two teams of crazy robbers disguised as Rocky I, Rocky II, Batman and Robin. As the robbery unfolds, the hostages fall victim to a comedic version of the Stockholm Syndrome and begin sympathizing with their dimwitted captors, which leads to an extended siege as Ray pursues a romantic relationship with one of the robbers (Kaitlin Olson).
