The Canadian teen comedy Hatley High sends up high school sports rituals by placing a most unlikely competitive game at the center of its story: that of chess. Tommy (Nicholas Wright) is a new arrival in his parents' hometown of Hatley, whose mother recently died. He discovers, after the fact, that his mom was once a chess pro and thus a legend in the community. Tommy's chess-fixated peers accept him almost instantly, inferring that he must have inherited his dear mother's skills, but in time Tommy carves out a niche for himself independently of his mom's legacy, and strikes up an enduring romance with Hyacinthe (Rachelle Lefevre) a "chess cheerleader." Two fictional British filmmakers "frame" the tale by filming it for a documentary that they are producing, and thus provide witty, ongoing narration.

A Concert: Behind the Prison Walls features Cash performing for inmates inside the Tennessee State Penitentiary in Nashville. Shot in 1976, this is only one of two prison concerts Cash ever shot for broadcast and features legendary performers Johnny Cash, Linda Rondstadt and Roy Clark performing their greatest hits. The concert aired on national television, and this Collector's edition video features rare, live performances of mega hits Folsom Prison Blues, Sunday Morning Coming Down, Hey Porter, Boy Names Sue, Love Has No Pride, and more. Performing for the prisoners of Tennessee State Penitentiary, Johnny Cash takes to the stage to deliver an incendiary set, circa 1976. Comedy Central's jittery, apoplectic commentator on all things absurd in politics and culture is superb on this disc's collection of four half-hour cable specials and bonus features. Fans and newcomers get a chance to see how much the comic has grown since his delightful 1998 show, in which Black characteristically sputtered this bit of social-scientific criticism: "It's absolutely stupid that we've lost the ozone layer. We've got men, rockets, Saran Wrap--fix it!" Black attacks Bill Clinton for obscuring the meaning of infidelity ("If curling is an Olympic sport, oral sex is adultery!"), Y2K hype, flu shots, America's power elite, Ross Perot ("He's the kid in Deliverance all growed-up!"), and even delivers a "Taxes 101" college lecture ("What would help IRS forms? Verbs!"). Bonus features include Black's "Indecision 2000" inserts--caustic commentary about the last Republican and Democrat conventions--for Jon Stewart's show. Highly entertaining stuff.

ALIEN SEX PARTY is a comic frenzy filled with sexual innuendo, music, science fiction and all combinations thereof. In an adult video store on Christmas Eve we join Joe (the befuddled owner who is terrified of his own merchandise), Adam (an employee who spouts indignation on all subjects) and Tina (a woman whose unabashed promiscuity lends itself well to the locale). There are also dancing security guards, mad bombers, Trekkies, porn-obsessed freaks, musical numbers, porn star cameos and appearences by executive producer MOBY, all proving that sex is not crime and that the Christmas spirit can be found anywhere, even in a video store.
