A Man Who Was Superman

SONG Soo-jung is a producer going on her third year at a small company. Her specialty is human interest stories. She is driven to produce these shallow stories for the sake of her ambition of one day becoming Korea’s own Oprah Winfrey. However, she is reaching the end of what’s left of her pride. One day, after months of not getting paid, she leaves her office with the company camera to produce a story on a lion apparently refusing to eat its meal. On her way, however, she comes across a robber, but she is saved somehow by Superman in a Hawaiian shirt. “Superman” claims he’s unable to tap into his supernatural powers as the bad guys have placed kryptonite inside his head. However, he doesn’t let that get in his way from helping others, from saving the world from global warming to saving a lost puppy.

SHAC Action & The Truth

They imprison members of many animal species, from rabbits, cats, hamsters, dogs, guinea-pigs, birds, to monkeys, who are destined to suffer and die in cruel experiments. Basically, HLS will test anything for anybody. HLS consider that the lives of nonhumans have no value, except the profit they make from their exploitation. Every single day, they will violate the rights of nonhuman animals. “SHAC ACTION” shows SHAC Action films and demo footages done at “ Time For Action 1, 2” and the newly released “Time for Action 3”. Also included is the SHAC USA film Strikeback. “THE TRUTH” shows the nonhuman rights violations that take place inside this vivisection lab. The documentary consists of two parts done by undercover activists. The first one is a SHAC film showing footage taken secretly inside HLS’s lab in Huntingdon and New Jersey. The second, “It’s a dog’s life”, shows Zoe Broughton working undercover at HLS.

Sigh

Sigh was made in collaboration with the BBC Concert Orchestra and features a score made especially for it by Academy-Award winning composer Anne Dudley. Dudley comments, 'When I was composing this piece I had in mind Sam's wonderful large photographs from her series Wuthering Heights. This gave me the sense of loss that would transform onto the members of the orchestra as they played without their instruments. I knew that the sound of each section had to come from the right screen and this allowed me to think about the music travelling around the room. Also, I wanted the listener to be able to move around the room and experience a different perspective of sound – very much like strolling through an orchestra. All the sections rely on each other to complete the soundscape and avoid a greater loss.' Eight-screen projection.
